I'm Karla and I like listening to country music and then writing about it.
What started as a weekly email to a colleague to try and convince him that country music is great, has since turned into the best part of my week that I am now apparently sharing with anyone who stumbles upon or otherwise finds themselves on this blog.
Since this page is titled "About" here are some other random facts about me that may or may not be pertinent to this blog:
- I sing very loudly in the car, but 98% of the time it only happens when I'm alone. If you ever have the privilege to experience loud-car-singing-Karla, it means that I feel comfortable with you which is kind of a big deal. Or it may mean that I forgot you were there, which is also a thing that happens sometimes.
- Whenever I enthusiastically say that I want to go get ice cream/frozen yogurt/gelato, what I really mean is that I want to go get fruit sorbet. Preferably of the mango variety.
- My father is a very talented flamenco guitarist. My mother is a fan of anything that you would typically listen to in a yoga class. One of my sisters is the lead singer in what I would describe as a thrasher punk metal band. The jury's still out on how I became a country lover.
- My greatest fears are alligators/crocodiles and lava. My friends can vouch for me on this one.
- I startle easily. Those same friends take advantage of this.
- I enjoy watching TV and I enjoy reading books. I often wrestle with the internal conflict of which to spend my time on and then usually end up doing neither because I've wasted my time trying to decide and now all of a sudden it's bedtime.
- My ultimate goal in life is to be surrounded by three prancing baby goats at all times, like this hyperactive gem.
- I sometimes listen to Ke$ha.
- I have this weird need to personify most of my possessions. I don't know why, but the things I own need to have names and I come up with them alarmingly fast.
- Onions always make me cry. Every time.
